Continuing its success, SAS Winches recently has been awarded several new winch contracts, among them are contracts for two new, highly innovative, deepwater constrcution vessels. Both vessels will be constructed by Daewoo in Heerema Marine Contractors
This contract is for the design and fabrication of a Mooring Equipment Package for Heerema Marine Contractors new Deep Water Construction Vessel “Aegir”.
The equipment package consists of two Mooring Windlasses and Chain Stoppers and six Constant Tension Barge Mooring Winches. All equipment will be supplied with the associated electric power units, local and remote controls and several other mooring components. Allseas
Another contract is from the Swiss-based Allseas Group S.A. for their 382 m long, 117 m wide Dynamically Positioned Platform Installation / Decommissioning and Pipelay Vessel “Pieter Schelte”.
The “Pieter Schelte” will have a topsides lift capacity of 48,000 t and a jacket lift capacity of 25,000 t. Her pipelay tension capacity will be 2,000 t, doubling the capacity of Allseas’ “Solitaire” and thereby surpassing her as the world’s largest pipelay vessel.
Delivery of the completed single-lift and pipelay vessel is expected at the end of 2013, ready for offshore operations early in 2014.
Our contract comprises four A&R Winches, and a special turn sheave block assembly, matching the 2,000 t pipelay capacity. SAS Winches is highly specialized in the design of heavy duty Traction & Storage Winches for applications such as for Abandonment and Recovery (A&R), Deepwater Installations and Position Mooring.
